WWOOFing: week 1; everything is new

Literally everything.
The air, the trees, the people, and now that we lived with a bunch of Hare Krisnas,... The food. Yes, Hare Krisnas. Twice a day chanting and NONSTOP playlists replaying various versions of the  Maha Mantra (who knew there are so many?). It is quite a transition. When we aren't eating delicious homegrown vegetarian food, not complaining, we are discussing why everyone should be vegetarian.
....Of course after we have offered our food to Krisna.

Now I did come here to farm to enhance my education as an environmental activist. So far I have learned how and when to harvest bananas
(The flower at the end of the fruit must have lost all of its petals and basically died, and then you must chop down the entire tree which holds the banana bunch)

As well as immerse myself into bees

....and all the lychees fruit grown everywhere

It has been such a wonderful experience this far. These people have truley immersed me into their culture.

As much as I enjoy chanting twice a day, contradicting all my Christain beliefs, and spending 4 days out of the week at kirtans (chanting at other people's homes), I think I have decided to expand my Hawaiian WWOOFing experience to another farm.
Tomorrow we are moving from southeastern Hawaii (Pahoa) to southern Pahala, the southernmost part of the United States, woohoo!!

In no way would I like to have shed any bad light on Hare Krisnas' and their lifestyle, .... I mean, I came here to FARM!

So let's see how this next week goes when we holla in Pahala!!!!
PS Hilo is super cool and cute so definitely stop in that town if able to
